PAINTING PRESENCE AN ARTISTIC AWARENESS WORKSHOP HOSTED BY MAURICE SCHILLING

An invitation into the atelier of Maurice to slow down, create and reconnect — with paint, presence and people.

THE EXPERIENCE In an environment that values intuition over instruction, Maurice opens his Hamburg-based atelier to a limited number of guests for occasional painting workshops. These sessions offer space to step away from everyday routines and reconnect — with the canvas, with oneself and like-minded individuals. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, participants are encouraged to explore without predefined outcomes. There is no expectation of “knowing how to paint.” Instead, the focus lies on intuitive process, gesture and honest expression.

Alongside the act of painting, the experience is shaped by conversation — direct, authentic, open, sometimes quiet. A drink may be shared. A moment may unfold. What begins as mark-making often evolves into something more personal. In the process of the workshop, it’s not only about the canvas but also about creating a quiet awareness of the self — unforced, but present. Each participant creates a unique abstract artwork during the guided workshop. Something to take home, to live with, or to reflect on. No prior experience required. Just presence.
